This site in the US for me was not on any Ley forces here, but over time it drew many people to wonder what’s it’s message was who visited this place. Many would say it was to show the increasing population would destroy the planet in time, and a need for population control was needed immediately. I don’t really know who or what was behind the stones, I don’t think anyone claimed it, but destroying the stones just makes the message all that more important, is time running short ???

I didn't know much about these stones before the explosion, but there is a lot of mystery surrounding them, and many unanswered questions. The creators are unknown, except by the pseudonym 'Robert C Christian', which, some suggest, may be a reference to the Rosicrucians.
Whether or not they were positioned on any earth energy node, there was a fair bit of geomantic knowledge that went into their construction. The site had several astronomical alignments, including the horizontal slot allowing a view of the sunrises over the course of the year, plus a hole running up through one of the stones that pointed to the north celestial pole. A hole in the capstone allowed a sunbeam to shine through at noon, marking each day of the year, and the four stones were aligned to mark the 18.6 year cycle of lunar standstills.
There's a lot of interesting information on the Wikipedia page.
A more in-depth article on the stones (albeit from 2000) can be found in this Wired article.
Here's a good video that goes over the site in detail:
